According to the statement, the delay was due to discrepancies in planning figures for 2016 from the NYSC, ministry of budget and national planning, and the ministry of finance, respectively.
The management of NYSC expressed its regret over the delay and assured that it was working to ensure all corps members received their allowance within a week.
A corp member who is serving in Kwara state spoke to naij.com regarding the issue on condition of anonymity, said ”It is true that we have not been paid this year. We have been told by our camp commandant that our payment will be sorted soon, so we are hpoing for good news at least next week. ”
Recall that the Director-General of the NYSC, Johnson Olawumi recently ordered personnel of the scheme to declare their assets in line with the code of conduct for public officers.
According to him, the NYSC management has been very consistent in the enforcement of periodic assets declaration by members of staff as well as ensuring strict adherence to policy guidelines in all aspects of the scheme’s operationS.
